The BSTS Newsletter is published twice a year, with a new edition available each Summer and Winter. The online subscription option allows our worldwide subscribers to view current and past editions of the newsletter through this website for just £10 per year. Printed editions are also available at an additional cost to cover printing and postal charges as outlined below.

The British Society for the Turin Shroud is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This policy tells you what information we collect, what we do with it, how we will keep it secure and who it might be shared with and this policy applies when you: • use our website to subscribe to the British Society for the Turin Shroud Newsletter; • contact us by email or post.

Who are we?

The British Society for the Turin Shroud is an organisation run by volunteers, which supports and encourages research into the Shroud of Turin. We operate through the British Society for the Turin Shroud website and produce a twice-yearly Newsletter to members who make a yearly or bi-yearly payment to receive the Newsletter. The payments are made via PayPal, Bank Transfer or Postal Cheque. We offer our members online access to all our Newsletters, with an option to receive a postal copy of all new editions. We also offer events, talks and exhibitions.

The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and store the following information from subscribers:

  • Name, Email address, Date Subscribed, Type of Subscription (on-line or postal) and where applicable, Postal Address and Telephone Number.

We do not record or hold details of financial accounts or payment cards used when payments are made to the British Society for the Turin Shroud.

We occasionally make payments to individuals or organisations which require that we collect bank account details. In these instances, the following payment beneficiary details are stored by the British Shroud of Turin Society’s banking partner:

  • Account Name, Sort Code, Account Number.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

The personal information we hold is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • you have subscribed to the British Society for the Turin Shroud Newsletter and have become a member of the British Society for the Turin Shroud;
  • you have contacted the British Society for the Turin Shroud for details of talks, exhibitions or events.

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • provide online access to the members only sections of the www.bstsnewsletter.com website;
  • where applicable, provide printed copies of the newsletter via postal services;
  • monitor membership cease dates;
  • make payments to the bank accounts of beneficiaries.

We will never sell or rent your information to third parties. We will never share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored in a password protected file. We keep your Name, Email address, Date Subscribed, Type of Subscription, Postal Address, and Telephone Number for the duration of your membership. Should you choose not to renew your membership, we will dispose of your information by deleting all your details from our systems within twelve months.

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.
  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information by contacting circulation@bstsnewsletter.com
  • Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.

How to complain

If you have any concerns about our use of your personal information, you can make a complaint to us at editorial@bstsnewsletter.com.

You can also complain to the ICO if you are unhappy with how we have used your data.

Digital Subscriptions

Digital subscriptions are charged at £10 per year. Subscribers are able to view current and past editions of the newsletter through this website

UK Postal Subscriptions

Postal subscriptions are charged at £18 per year for delivery to addresses in the UK and includes a free digital subscription.

International Postal Subscribers

Postal subscriptions for delivery to addresses overseas are charged at £25 per year including a free digital subscription.
